Owning Mahowny
2003 | Richard Kwietniowski
A portrait of one man obsessed and the lengths he's willing to go. The most enticing element of the film for me is its focus on loss. Mahoney always has the capacity to win but chooses to let it slowly wither away. Even with all the luxuries a whale on their back gets at a classy establishment, he chooses to simply stew in the loss. An enthralling narrative heightened by an even more enthralling cast.
